Fines are not 'fine'....

January 20th, 2005 at 07:22 pm

Daughter and I went to the library this evening, where I checked out a number of books on personal finance, and am now looking forward to sitting up tonight with a cup of hot tea and perusing them....

(Of course it's a little ironic that in order to check out the books on personal finance, I had to pay my personal overdue library fines. To the tune of $5.50. Yeah, like THAT makes sense (or should I say 'cents'?)....)

What books did you take out? I love finance books!

The books -- well, lets see. I have:

'How to Protect and Manage Your 401K" by Elizabeth Opalka
"Live Dept Free" by Ted Carrol
"Talking Money" and "You Don't Have To Be Rich" , both by Jean Chatzky
"Saving on a Shoestring" by Barbara O'Neill
"The Ms. Spent Money Guide" by Deborah Knuckey
"The Courage to be Rich" by Suze Orman (what I was really looking for was her book, "The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom" -- alas, it's checked out....)

Hmmm, I just noticed that almost all of these books were written by women. Interesting....

I know, I owe $8 at my library. The worst part is, I used to be a librarian!
It's still cheaper than buying the books.

I have Saving on a Shoestring and love it!

My daughter had a library book for 30 days past due. They only charged her $0.50.

Our library will also renew over the phone if we can't get in to town.
